Samsquanch peeking through the pines at Sunken Lake at dusk
Resident Cryptid

Meet the Sunken Lake Samsquanch.

Every great glamping spot has a legend. Ours is hairy, vaguely Canadian, and surprisingly photogenic.

The Lore

A friend in the ferns.

Guests started spotting him in the early mornings โ€” a tall, shaggy silhouette tucked between the pines, watching the mist roll off Sunken Lake. We named him, fed him stories, and now he's part of the family.

He doesn't do crowds. He doesn't do flash. But if you wake up early, brew a coffee and walk the lake path slowly, you might just catch him at the treeline.

Bring your camera. Tag @sunkenescapes if you spot him. We send a free Sunken Escapes sweater to the best photo of the season.

Spotting Tips

How to (maybe) see the Samsquanch.

  • ๐ŸŒ… Best at first light or last light โ€” he hates the midday sun.
  • ๐Ÿคซ Talk quietly on the lake path. He's shy. So are the deer.
  • ๐Ÿ“ท Phones work. Telephoto works better.
  • ๐Ÿ”ฆ Leave the flashlight off. The dark sky is part of the deal.
